4. Airport Transportation Information

Shanghai has two international airports, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is located in Changning District, Shanghai, about 13 km from the city center. In contrast, Pudong International Airport is located in Pudong New District, Shanghai, about 30 km from the city center. The majority of international flights are concentrated here.

 

Hongqiao International Airport: Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is located in Changning District, Shanghai, about 13 kilometres from the city center. As the first civil airport in Shanghai, Shanghai Hongqiao Airport has become one of the largest international airports in China after years of expansion.

Airport Transportation

Rail transportation: Metro lines 2 and 10 can both reach Hongqiao Airport Terminal (with line 2 only going Terminal 2 and line 10 reaching Terminals 1 and 2).

High-speed rail: Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 is connected to Hongqiao Railway Station, which can be reached on foot or by subway lines 2 and 10.

Public transportation: Hongqiao Airport is accessible by ground bus to and from Zizhu Science and Technology Park, Jiading West Railway Station, Pudong Airport, Shanghai Railway Station, East Yan'an Road Bund, Lu Pu Bridge, Qingjian New Village, Shanghai Zoo, etc. Check the official website for details on frequency and fares.

Cab: Taxi pick-up points are located on the arrival level of Terminal 1 and the south side of Gate 4 of the arrival level (ground level) of Terminal 2.

Long-distance buses: Hongqiao Airport operates long-distance passenger routes to Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, Zhangjiagang and many other neighbouring cities, which can be interchanged within the Hongqiao Hub West Transportation Center.

Shuttle Bus: Free shuttle bus service is available for passengers between Terminals 1 and 2 of Hongqiao Airport. The waiting points are Terminal 1 (first and last departure time 6:00, 22:30) and Terminal 2 (first and latest departure time 6:00, 23:00).

 

Pudong International Airport: Located in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, about 30 km from the city center.

Airport Transportation

Travellers can take rail line 2, Maglev trains, nearly ten airport bus routes or cabs between Pudong Airport and downtown.

Maglev: Maglev trains run to Longyang Road Station, where you can transfer to Metro Line 2, Line 7, and Line 16, and the ride takes about 8 minutes, with one-way fares ranging from RMB 50-100.

Airport bus: Airport bus can reach Hongqiao, Jing'an Temple, Wujiaochang, People's Square, Century Avenue, Lujiazui, Xujiahui and other directions in the city, specific frequency and fare information can be found on the official website.

Cab: The starting price is 14 yuan during the day and 18 yuan at night.

In addition, there are long-distance passenger buses to Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Obligation, Qingtian, Wenzhou, Nantong, Qidong, Kunshan, Suzhou, Wuxi, Zhangjiagang, Huzhou and other neighbouring cities.
